What's an excess?

April 24, 2026

An excess is your contribution to vet fees when we pay for the claim. It helps us keep the cost of your policy down.

At Napo, we have a £99 standard excess* per condition, per policy year (for vet fees only).

With third-party liability cover, you’ll need to pay a £250 excess (dogs only).**

If you claim for anything other than vet fees or third-party liability there is no excess to pay.

**Please note that some policies do not include Third Party Liability cover. You can check which breeds do not receive Third Party Liability here.
